WILLIAM MERRITT, planter, to DINWIDDIE CRAUFURD & CO., Merchants. Mortgage, dated 25 December 1773, on 100 acres of land on Lizard creek bought from JOHN LINCH, JR., adjoining JAMES LINCH, THOMAS EATON, MARK MOORE, & JOHN LINCH, JR., and negroes, wagon, livestock, & furniture, to be sold if debt, with interest, is not satisfied within two years. Wit: THOMAS PETER, SACK BRACEY, and THOMAS CLAIBORNE. Recorded August Court 1774.

On February 19, 1772. License is granted John Lynch to keep a Tavern at his home at the forks of the road - formerly Taylor’s Store now called Williamsborough and gives for Security John Williams Esq’r. & Elisha Sims (from page 201 of the book “History and Genealogies of Old Granville County, North Carolina 1746 - 1800” by Thomas McAdory Owen)
