ELLENBORO - Winnie Horton Hawkins, 95, of Race Path Church Road, Ellenboro, died
on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County. A native
of Rutherford County, she was born on February 25, 1920, a daughter of the late
Albert Horton and Emma Whitener Horton. She was a homemaker and member of Bethel
Baptist Church of Ellenboro.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde
Hawkins; her brothers and sisters, Ray Horton, Eula Chambers, Fay Horton, Genell
Hutchins, Max Horton Pauline Horton, and Elaine Terry; one infant son, Ted
Hawkins. She is survived by her son, Ronald Hawkins and wife Sharon of
Ellenboro; her daughter, Betty Gilbert and husband Steve of Ellenboro; her
sisters, Mary Walker of Gastonia, Annie Jones of Winston Salem, and Ruth Dysart
of Greenville, NC; her grandchildren, Tim Hawkins, Ted Hawkins, Rebecca Clark,
Emily Jones and Clint Gilbert; 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Bethel
Baptist Church of Ellenboro with the Rev. Michael Sepaugh and Rev. Dr. Wayne
Blackwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
