Obituary

Jane Massey Stockton was born in Abilene, TX, on March 16, 1947. She was the daughter of T.O. and Betty Massey. God called her home to Him suddenly on April 30, 2016... her daddy's birthday.

She was predeceased by her parents. Survivors include husband Tom Stockton; son Clay Stockton (Stephanie), children Bryce, Zoe, Kai, Eli, Mae; son Case Stockton (Joan), children Baker, Duke, Henry, Jane Ann; son Tommy Stockton; and sister Ann Massey Calvert (Stanton).

Following graduation from Abilene High School, Jane attended Texas Tech. She received her degree in Education and devoted many years motivating, loving and influencing the lives of her students. Each student was her favorite. Her teaching career began in the Houston and Austin ISDs. She considered the two decades teaching in the Rockwall ISD SAGE program to be the crown of her teaching career.

Committed to a Christian life, Jane was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Rockwall where she taught Bible Class for seventeen years. Her confidence in Christ was clear, constant, and infinite; she was so comfortable in gently expressing her faith that others were made comfortable as well.

Spending time with her grandchildren was perhaps her greatest joy. Her devotion to her sons and grandchildren was boundless and eternal. Jane gloried in their every accomplishment. Each one was perfect!

Throughout her life, she filled every room she entered with her quick wit and laughter, her energy, and her love for others. Jane had a unique ability to make everyone happy. One of the friends she made in Florence on her annual sisters' trip to Italy expressed it best, "Though we are away, Jane will always live with us, in our hearts and in the memories of the beautiful moments we spent together."

Those who knew and loved Jane will miss the light that has left this earthly place and is now gone home to Heaven.
