WINSTON-SALEM Jason Christian Bostic April 13, 2014 Jason Christian Bostic, age 50, passed away suddenly April 13th at his home. He was born February 21st in Massachusettes, the son of William Chivious Bostic, MD and Sandra Morrison Bostic. He was an alumnus of the Summit School and a graduate of Reynolds High School. He received a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy from St Andrews College in Laurinburg, NC. He was an extraordinary outdoorsman from an early age, active with Explorers Club and as a much beloved camper and then counselor at Eagle's Nest Camp and in later years at Gwynn Valley Camp. He was an avid mountain biker, kayaker and sailor. He was one of the pioneers of soccer in NC, a player at the beginning of the Optimist Soccer League and a professional referee for both Public School and League games throughout the State. His career over the past 20 years was as a project manager and IT specialist at both Wells Fargo and Wachovia Banks. He was a gifted counselor on many levels and in many venues of life. He cherished his travels abroad, loved his family, friends and life with tremendous passion and endless good humor. A carefree spirit who excelled at making other people laugh, a talented storyteller, a kind and generous soul who could bring out the best in people and situations even in the most trying circumstances. He was a conduit for joy in the lives of all he knew and was always available for support of those in need. He was a powerful force for keeping his family and friends connected. Jason worked with kids of all ages formally and informally his whole life. Watching him interact with little kids was especially amazing. He could be fiercely silly, but kids could sense in an instant that he took them seriously. He honored them as human beings and respected their concerns. He could teach invisibly, leading them to discover their own courage and their own instinct for fairness. He had many gifts, but this we believe was his genious. He is survived by his, daughter Alexandra, son Drew, former wife and dear friend Lynne, Portuguese Water Dog Camden and siblings, Beth, Brooke, Graham, Stacia and mother Sandra. A remembrance and celebration of life will be held on sat April 19th at 4:00 p.m. at Parkway Presbyterian Church, in the Fellowship Hall, 1000 Yorkshire Drive, Winston-Salem 27106. Bring your stories to shareCasual Dress. In lieu of flowers please send donations in his honor to: Gwynn Valley Campership 301 Gwynn Valley Trail, Brevard, NC 28712. A scholarship will be created in his name. He will be greatly missed.
