Charles Rucker Hipp, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, husband of Jan Vlach Hipp, entered into eternal rest on the morning of February 10, 2010.
Charley was born March 14, 1947 in Durham, NC, the son of the late Charles R. Hipp and Delia Joyce Preston Hipp.
He was a partner with his brother Preston in Hipp Properties, a commercial real estate development company. Previously he owned and operated C.R. Hipp, Inc., a local mechanical contracting business.
Charley was a graduate of Gaud School in Charleston and Clemson University with a degree in Building Sciences.
Most importantly, Charley loved the Lord and was very involved at St. Andrews where he served as Senior Warden and Life Group Leader. He was active in many service projects throughout the city. Charley served as president of the Mechanical Contractors Association.
He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years and granddaughter, Mercury Virginia Hipp; his daughters: Shea Kuhn and husband John and grandchildren Madeline, Philip and Louisa, Heather Hann and husband Matthew; his son, Charles R. Hipp, III; brother, Preston Hipp and wife Laura; sister, Dee Pridgen.
He was predeceased by his sister, Bonney and his brother-in-law, Bill Pridgen.
Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
