Mrs. Dorothy Lynch Welch, affectionately known as "Tootsie", passed away at the age of 83, Friday, December 16, 2005 in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness. Tootsie was born June 25, 1922 in Hineston, LA to the late Overton Bruce and Minnie Ann (Blackwell) Lynch.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, Monday, December 19, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Reverend Rex Blankenship of Springs of Grace Baptist Church, where she was a charter member. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, December 18, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis B. Welch; four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her son, Louis Welch; her daughters, Dolores Watson (Mike), Beverly Nezat (Ron); her grandchildren, Jimmy Pigue, Heather Pigue-Ham (Jason), Michael Welch, Cheryl Welch, Jennifer Strickland, Heath Watson (Kim), and Jason Watson (Meg); nine great-grandchildren; and her special friend, JoAnn Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Heath Watson, Jason Watson, Jimmy Pigue, Michael Welch, Brandon Michael Strickland and Chris Brown.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dorothy London, Shaunta Griffin, Pachausha Fuller, Brenda Williams and the staff of The Glen Retirement Center.
