Columbus, NC - Caton Glenn Dedmondt died Monday, March 22, 1982 in St. Luke's Hospital. Native of Gaston County; son of George C. and Emma Lane Proctor Dedmondt. Member and secretary for many years of Horse Creek Masonic Lodge and husband of Bessie Whiteside Dedmondt. Member and Deacon of Columbus Presbyterian Church and a World War II Veteran. Interment was in the Polk Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites. He was 74 years of age at his demise. (Original obituary was rewritten to conform to Findagrave Rules by Record Hunter.)

Bessie (Whiteside) Dedmondt, 88, of Walker Street, Columbus, North Carolina, passed away January 16, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

A native of Rutherford County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Whiteside and Mammer (Nanney) Whiteside and widow of Caton Dedmondt.

She was retired from Southern Mercerizing Corporation after 30 years of service. She was a charter member of VFW Post No. 9116 Ladies Auxiliary, where she had served as a guard since 1978 and was a member of Columbus Presbyterian Church of Columbus.

Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Whiteside of Landrum, South Carolina, Velma "Jack" Whiteside of Green Creek, North Carolina; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, 2002 in McFarland Funeral Chapel of Tryon, conducted by Dr. Donald McIntyre.

Burial was in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, North Carolina.
