Private First Class Lynch was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on February 13, 1951. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. Private First Class Lynch was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
