Mrs. Sondra Hunter Morrison Bostic, 82, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

Sondi, as she was affectionately known, was born in Wellsville, New York on February 10, 1935 to Sara Brooke and Phillips L. Morrison, MD. A graduate of Simmons College in Boston, MA, Sondi pursued her interests in economics and business before getting married early in her career. She was a very devoted wife and mother who delighted in her children and family.

She was involved in community causes like Meals On Wheels, and her nurturing spirit and love for children inspired her charitable giving to places like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Feed The Children. She was very creative with a natural gift for artistic endeavors, such as batik, stained glass and painting as well as gardening. A lifelong athlete, she loved field hockey in High School and sailing in the Barnegate Bay in NJ; later she became an avid tennis player and golfer at Old Town Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Sondi loved to laugh and enjoyed making others laugh too. She was also a loyal friend to many and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

In addition to her parents, Sondi was preceded in death by her son, Jason Bostic, grandson, Graham Gregory, and former husband, William C. Bostic, M.D.

Sondi is survived by her daughters, Beth Bostic of Winston-Salem and Stacia Gregory and husband Joseph of Charlotte; sons, Dr. Brooke Bostic and wife Christine of Charlottesville, VA and Graham Bostic and wife Angela of Ocean City, MD; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters. Sondi will be greatly missed by her children and family.

A celebration of Sondi’s life will be held May 6th at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Winston-Salem.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Arbor Acres Fitzgerald Center, for their great care and support.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to her son Jason’s Scholarship Fund at Gwynn Valley Camp in The Blue Ridge Mountains, which provides young children a nurturing outdoor educational experience.
