Asheville - Nell Elizabeth Lynch Brigman, 86, passed away on February 17, 2015 at the Brooks-Howell Home in Asheville, North Carolina.

A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Bessie Mae Searcy Lynch and preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, John Virgin "JV" Brigman, who passed in July 2014.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Charles Lynch and four sisters, Madge Calloway, Ruth Trexler, Mildred Dotson, and Evelyn DeVinney.

Nell was a graduate of Valley Springs High School and retired from Beacon Manufacturing as Personnel Manager after forty years of service.

She was quite proud to have established the first women's industrial basketball team for Beacon Manufacturing and the love of basketball remained constant throughout her life.

Nell and her husband, JV, were active members at Swannanoa United Methodist Church since 1952, and they both served the Church in many capacities.

Nell, better known to some as Nanny, was a warm, wonderful, and loving woman. She loved to read, had a great sense of humor, and was an avid Duke basketball fan. She was fiercely loyal to her family and always a present force in our lives. Nanny and Paw were the heart of our family. They are very much loved and missed.

John "JV" Brigman, 87, a Swannanoa native, passed away on Sunday, July 20th at the John F. Keever Solace Center.

JV was a hard worker all throughout his life. He worked for 30 years at Morgan Manufacturing in Swannanoa. JV also enjoyed his 37 years of retirement. He made such a difference in so many people's lives that there is too many to count.

JV joined Swannanoa United Methodist Church in 1952 and served in many capacities. He loved his church and church family. JV was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 23, 2014 from 6:00 PM-Until in the chapel of Wilson Family Funeral Service in Black Mountain. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday July 24th at 2:00 PM at Swannanoa United Methodist Church. The body will lay in state for one hour prior to service hour at the church. Burial to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park Memorial Park in Black Mountain.
