Roy Lee Blackwell, 87, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2002 in Rutherford Hospital in Rutherfordton, North Carolina.

A native of Polk County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Lynn and Ella (Reel) Blackwell and the husband of the late Cleo (Wilson) Blackwell (1920-1991).

He was retired from Southern Woven Label Mill in Columbus. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and was also a member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church in Mill Spring.

Surviving are a daughter, Revonda Siegfried of Sunnyview; one son, James C. Blackwell of Sunnyview; one brother, Paul Blackwell of Battle Creek, Michigan.; two sisters, June Hayes of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Pauline Hancock of Florida; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at McFarland Funeral Chapel of Tryon, conducted by the Rev. Fred Siegfried and the Rev. Danny Siegfried.

Burial was in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, North Carolina.
