Born in Cleveland County* and resided in Rutherford County where he was by occupation a miller prior to enlisting in Rutherford County at age 24, September 2, 1861. Mustered in as Private. Woundcd at Gaines' Mill, Virgillia, June 27, 1862. Promoted to Sergeanl in July, 1862-February, 1863 Returned to duty prior to March I, 1863. Present or accounted for until wounded at or near Petersburg, Virginia, June 22, 1864. Reported absent wounded through October, 1864.
