DEATH TAKES W.B.MASSEY

W. B. Massey, 69, resident of Taylor County since 1903 and the father of T. O. Massey of Abilene, died at the family home in Merkel at 5 am Tuesday. He had been in failing health for several months.

Funeral rites will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 O'clock from the residence, with the Rev. P. H. Gates, pastor of the Merkel Methodist church officiating. Burial will be made in the Rose Hill Cemetery there.

Mr. Massey, born in Tennessee on September 13, 1865, moved to Texas as a boy of 14 and settled with him parents in Fannin county. He came to his county 32 years ago, farmed near Merkel until 1918 and, retiring, established his home in Merkel.

Besides the son in Abilene, Mrs. Massey and two other sons, J. L. and Ray J. Massey of Merkel survive. Other survivors include five grandchildren and two brothers, A. Massey and Sam Massey, living near Bonham.

MRS. W. B. MASSEY DEAD AT MERKEL

MERKEL March 12--Funeral services for Mrs. W. B. Massey, 68, will be held at 3oclock Sunday afternoon from the family residence conducted by the Rev. A. A. Brian, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery beside the grave of her husband who died April 2, 1935. A daughter Mrs. Mary Dunagin, who died March 26, 1927 is also buried in the family lot at Rose Hill. Mrs. Massey had been ill for more than two months.

Minnie Lynch was born Jan.1, 1870 in Georgia and came to Texas with her parents at an early age. She was married Dec. 20, 1891 at Randolph in Fannin county to William B. Massey. Moving to Taylor county in 1903, they settled on a farm three miles southwest of Merkel, later moving into town in 1917.

Surviving are three children: T.O. Massey of Abilene, Jake Massey, Merkel and Ray J. Massey, Dallas; five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Cobb of Ector, Fannin co TX.end
